Donkamukam, March 11: “The spirit of oneness in Autonomous State for Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao under Article 244(A) of the Constitution of India should not die down,” Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) chief executive member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang said here on Sunday.
Addressing the open session of the 45th annual general conference of Karbi Students Association (KSA) at Ritpi Aklam, Salona, Ronghang said he would support the dharna programme organised by KANCHASDCOM in New Delhi on March 24.
“We faced so many obstacles. Some of us had to sacrifice their lives for the cause of Autonomous State. But nothing can stop us from it,” Ronghang said.
Stating that the unemployment in Karbi Anglong has been a rising trend, the CEM said the council will take initiative for filling up of more than 1,000 posts lying vacant in 30 government departments. He also asked the leaders of the student body to be bridge between the government and the people for peace and progress of Karbi Anglong. He also urged the student organisations to devoid of political activities and maintain their clean and impartial image.
The CEM also informed that the eviction drive against the encroachers in Langkaijan bordering Nagaland will be taken out within this month. He also assured of constructing an open stage in the conference venue at a cost of Rs 15 lakh along with boundary wall for the school.
Notably, the student body has declared the Upper Lutumari LP School as the cleanest LP school of the hill district.
The CEM also released a souvenir in the function.
The meeting chaired by KSA-Inglongpho president Bijoy Bey. KAAC chairman Horensing Bey, MACs MS Timung, Dhorsing Ronghang, Ramsing Timung and Prabhat Ch Taro, KCS president Chandrasing Kro, KANCHASDCOM president Ajit Timung, Karbi Lammet Amei (KLA) general secretary Kamsing Hanse were also present in the open session.
Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by KSA general secretary Moniram Tokbi.
The CEM also inaugurated ACR school building under RMSA in West Karbi Anglong on Sunday. He also inaugurated an open stage at Teron Arong, Doloni constructed under P&RD. On the occasion, he said that the Borthoiso PWD Road to Doloni Teron village road will soon be improved. He also inaugurated open stage at Borthoiso constructed through P&RD. KAAC chairman Horensing Bey, MACs Mongolsing Timung, Darsing Ronghang, Ramsing Timung and Probhat Chandra Taro and others were present at the programmes.
