GUWAHATI, May 5: Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission celebrated ‘Aajeevika Evam Kaushal Vikash Diwas’ (Jeevika Aru Kaushal Bikash Dibokh) under the ‘Gram Swaraj Abhiyan’ campaign of Union government at BKB Auditorium of Gauhati University here on Saturday.
“Gram Swaraj Abhiyan”, is a campaign announced by the prime minister Narendra Modi to promote social harmony, spread awareness about pro-poor initiatives of government, reach out to poor households to enroll them as also to obtain their feedback on various welfare programmes.
The campaign, undertaken under the name of “Sabka Sath, Sabka Gaon, Sabka Vikas”, concentrates on reaching out to the poor people with seven schemes- Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Saubhagya, Ujala scheme, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Mission Indradhanush. The campaign which started on April 14, ended on Saturday.
The day was celebrated across the state as ‘Aajeevika Evam Kaushal Vikash Diwas’ under the panchyat and rural development department and Assam State Rural livelihoods Mission (ASRLM).
Addressing as chief guest, additional chief secretary MGVK Bhanu, principal secretary (panchayat and rural development) Dr. JB Ekka and secretary (panchayat and rural development) Nasrul Islam, director, SIPRD, Khargewar Pegu and additional mission director, ASRLM, Nayanjyoti Bhagawati were present in the inaugural session.
Eminent personalities writer padmashree Eli Ahmed, journalist Samudra Gupta Kashyap, Birubala Rabha, Assam State Commission Women chairperson Chikimiki Talukdar also graced the meeting.
A panel discussion and interaction with the SHG members and DDU-GKY trainees was also organised where CII Foundation Women Exemplary Award Purnima Boro, IIE director Abhijit Sharma, and former SBI banker Nurul Islam Lahkar took part.
The awards were also distributed to best performing SHGs and best performing DDU-GKY candidate in terms of career progression. Best performance awards were also given to best bank for credit linkage and best entrepreneurs under RSETI. Job offer letters were also distributed to DDU-GKY trainees.
Similar function was also organised in Ghilamara Development Block in which panchayat and rural development minister Naba Kumar Doley attended as chief guest.
Notably, ASRLM bagged the first prize in category 1 (North Eastern states and Hilly region) for successfully implementation of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Grameen Kaushlaya Yojana (DDU-GKY) in 2017-18, UCO Bank RSETI Goalpara best performing RSETI under the Northeast and Hilly Region Category.
Aajeevika Evam Kaushal Vikash Divas was also observed in Gaon Panchayats and blocks across Hailakandi district on Saturday.
Besides, members from various banks apprised the youth about their loan disbursement patterns under various schemes for promoting self employment.
Improving skills to increase the employability potential of the youth was also given added thrust.
