PASIGHAT, May 4: Keeping the central government’s motto to double the farmer’s income by 2022, Kisan Kalyan Karyashala- a part of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan was organised in different districts of Arunachal Pradesh during last three days, an official release informed here on Friday.
The programme was conducted in two blocks of Lohit district on Friday, under the banner of Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) with active participation from line departments.
13 progressive farmers of Lohit district were felicitated and selected farmer’s awards for their outstanding performance in agriculture and allied sectors, during the meeting.
The programme was conducted at Pasighat, Ruksin and Mebo sub-divisions in East Siang district on Wednesday, wherein agriculture officials, progressive farmers and elected leaders attended.
A well organised farmer- scientist interaction meet was also held during the Kisan Kalyan Karyashala in the state.
Gracing the occasion at Pasighat, Arunachal MLA Kaling Moyong (BJP) said that Narendra Modi led union government was making all out effort to develop the agri-horti sector to boost the country’s rural economy. He asked the farmer to take technical suggestion of the agriculture scientists and also avail the benefits given by the government.
Referring Centre’s vision-‘Double farmers income by 2022’, MLA Moyong urged the farmers of East Siang to join the mission and enhance their household economy by massive agriculture and horticultural activities. He assured the farmers of early renovation of defunct Cold Storage set up in the Industrial Growth Centre at Niglok near Assam-Arunachal boundary and even to to set up another one at Pasighat.
Speaking the occasion, East Siang deputy commissioner Tamiyo Tatak termed the farmers as “economic backbone” of the society. He urged the rural farmers to avail various scheme benefits given by the government.
About 15 progressive farmers of the district were felicitated for their successful achievements.
