SHILLONG, May 5: Meghalaya government has sent proposal to the Centre for creating rural market for empowering women of self-help groups.

The economic vision of Meghalaya Government for rural areas, meant to empower rural households through the women self-help groups (SHGs), is gradually going out of content as products made by women self-help groups fail to find market.

Meghalaya Community and Rural Development minister Snawbhalang Dhar said, “We from the state has submitted proposal to Ministry of Rural Development for creating of village hut, rural market and several other initiative including easy availability of market for these self help groups.”

“This will bring market closer to people and increase trade,” he added.
