GUWAHATI, May 15: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) chief executive member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang was presented Prerona Award by a little-known Sadou Asom Unnayan Parishad (SAUP) in Guwahati on Tuesday.
The award was presented by SAUP president Mousom Kumar Uzir and members of Assam state committee of All Indian Reporters Association in Guwahati on Tuesday.
The organisation also urged Ronghang to oppose the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 in Karbi Anglong. However, Ronghang clarified that the BJP government and the party will not do anything which may harm the cause of the indigenous people of the state.
Ronghang was awarded for his works for implementation of various income generating schemes in the hill district.
KAAC deputy chairman Ritish Enghi, EMs Amar Singh Tisu, Pradip Rongpi and MAC Ramsing Timung were also present in the meeting.
Assam State Committee of AIRA president Kiran Kumar Gogoi and secretary Pankaj Nath were also present in the meeting.
