DONKAMOKAM, April 16: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) chief executive member Tuliram Ronghang has visited the thunder-storm affected villages under Bithung Rengthama MAC Constituency in West Karbi Anglong district on Monday.
The thunderstorm accompanied by heavy rain lashed many villages of the constituency on Saturday evening. As many as 100 houses apart from other properties were damaged due to the storm.
The storm also uprooted many trees and electric poles snapping power supply to many villages. The power supply is yet to be restored in many places, even as the power employees are working on war foot.
The CEM extended financial assistance to over hundred families of the villages as temporary relief. Ronghang was accompanied by Veterinery Board chairman Ditolal Hasnu, VDC chairman Ramson Rongpi, Rongkhang BDO Sashi Kt Timung and other senior officials.
Later, Ronghang inaugurated the newly-constructed building of Phangtengphrang High School in West Karbi Anglong district.
The head master of the school along with senior citizen of the area submitted a memorandum to the CEM demanding construction of an open stage, earth filling of the school compound, desks and benches for the students.
Earlier, the CEM inaugurated a series of Brick Pavement Road from Sikamari PWD road to Do-gaon, then Sikamari PWD road to Sishu Niketan Road, at Taradubi, and Hanthor Pwd road to Hanthor village, an open stage at Wakanta Village and an iron gate at Khandajan.
