DIPHU/ Haflong, Oct 11: The second phase of Gunotsav conducted by elementary education department got underway in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts from Tuesday.
Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang conducted evaluation of learning ability of students under Gunotsav at Mohendijua Assamese LP School at Mohendijua at Manja. He was accompanied by external evaluator Mizi Kro, executive engineer of water resources and Karbi Anglong SSA district mission co-ordinator (DMC) Nayan Pathak.
The CEM visited the surroundings of the school. The school has an enrolment of 42 students with two teachers. Ronghang promised to provide the school boundary wall within this year. The CEM participated in the morning assembly and listened to the songs and messages given by the students. He also conducted reading test for the students. Test on reading, writing and arithmetic were also conducted.
Karbi Anglong deputy commissioner Adil Khan conducted evaluation programme at Doldali ME School at Joseph Village, Doldali on the second day of Gunotsav. Khan arrived at the school at 8.30 am and was received by headmaster of the school Dagirani Rengma and staff. He also participated in the morning assembly. The assembly started with drill, message of great persons.
First, written examination was conducted for the students. Classes- VI to VIII were included in the test. The DC himself conducted reading test of English and Assamese of class VIII students. Though there was no difficulty in reading Assamese, but in English, most of the students could not do well. When the DC asked for the meaning of flood in Assamese during English reading, no students could answer. Khan had also lunch with the school students. The DC conducted dictation for class-VI students in English and Assamese.
Teachers said most of the students come from several miles away on foot.
Most of the teachers attend the school from Diphu. The approach road from main road is in deplorable condition. The school is 15 km towards Dhansiri market and 16 km from Diphu. From Daldali Junction it is 4 km.
Summing up the whole evaluation process the DC said the Gunotsav is a good initiative to know the status of the education in the state. In order to correct certain areas in education in the state the vacant teachers post should be filled.
On the other hand, the evaluation under second phase of Gunotsav began in Dima Hasao district on Wednesday. On the first day of the programme, a total 292 schools across the district were assessed.
North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) CEM Debolal Gorlosa conducted evaluation at Gurjilijigeer LP School under Diyungbra block.
Gorlosa elaborated the aims and objectives of Gunotsav Phase and hoped that such steps for betterment of teaching and learning process would improve the government educational institutions. He sought help from all officials concerned to reach the actual goal and he also appealed to the parents and guardians to help teachers find the drawbacks of their children in studies so that special attention could be given to such pupils.
All the EMs of the council also conducted such evaluation programme at different schools of the hill district. Such evaluation programmes were also conducted in Gopinath Bordoloi Assamese LP School, where additional DC Vikram Dev Sarma interacted with students teachers, parents and members of School Management Committee.
