GUWAHATI, May 17: Former Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) general secretary Anil Raja fired a fresh salvo at former minister Rockybul Hussain alleging that the former minister went to Macau for converting his black money into white.
“Rockybul Hussain along with his wife went to Macau on May 5 last to convert black money into white,” Raja told reporters in Guwahati on Thursday. “Hussain stayed in a luxurious hotel with a casino on that day which issues certificates to legalise any requested amount of money in return of a fixed percentage. A citizen belonging to any country can produce that particular certificate before the revenue and income tax officials who will deduct a tax from the amount and rest can be taken into the country as white money,” Raja said.
Raja claimed that he has got the list of the property owned by Hussain in his wife’s name in Lakhimpur. “In Lakhimpur, he has huge property in his wife’s name. Before 2016 assembly elections, he did not make mention of this property,” Raja also said.
Raja has already dashed off letters to the Election Commission and the income tax department urging them to take action against Rockybul for disobeying the election rules by not revealing all details about his property while contesting polls.
Raja further said that he would continue his fight until people like Rockybul, who allegedly work with ‘self interests’, are not removed from the party.
Raja also urged the revenue department to issue a directive to the deputy commissioners of Nagaon and Lakhimpur districts to send the report of the investigation into the property which are in the names of Hussain’s mother, wife and other relatives to the party’s head office.
Meanwhile, Hussain denied the allegation of having property in his wife’s name in Lakhimpur. Addressing a press conference in Nagaon on Thursday, Hussain said Anil Raja has failed to attend the court in connection with the case which he had lodged against Hussain.
He also accused the state government of creating confusion among the peoples using people like Anil Raja.
