North East CSR Forum held in Guwahati

GUWAHATI, Feb 26: With the collaborations of impacts at its focus, CSRBOX and Dalmia Bharat Group came together to host the mega forum ‘North East CSR Forum’. Charities Aids Foundation India and Oxfam India co-hosted the event and Centre for Catalyzing Change was the Knowledge Partner. The forum was held at Vivanta by Taj in Guwahati.

In the event, North East CSR Outlook Report was also released. The forum hosted 390 delegates from 252 organisations, PSUs, and 28 Exhibitors. It brought together Companies and CSR foundations, State governments from North East States and associated agencies, non-profits, Impact investors and social incubators, Social enterprises and Academic and technological institutes.

Group Head, CSR and CEO, Dalmia Bharat Foundation, Vishal Bhardwaj said, “Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF) is delighted to have partnered with NGOBOX and CSRBOX for the North East CSR Forum. This forum will prove to be a great platform for businesses to come together and discuss the importance of CSR and how it would help in the development of the North Eastern region. In the Inaugural session, the North East CSR Outlook Report 2019 was released in presence of Chief Guest, CEO, Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland, Govt. of Nagaland (Former Chief Secretary-Nagaland), Alemtemshi Jamir (IAS) and IAS, Director General, NIRD&PR, Dr WR Reddy. The Keynote address were delivered by CEO, Charities Aids Foundation (CAF) India, Meenakshi Batra, Director – Programme & Advocacy, OXFAM India, Pankaj Anand and Executive Director, Centre for Catalyzing Change, Dr. Aparajita Gogoi.

According to the North East CSR Outlook Report 2019 published by CSRBOX, the CSR spend in North East India in Financial Year 2017-18 was Rs 342.48 Cr which is 3.6 % of the total CSR spent in the year. The analysis was conducted on 85 companies including PSUs like Oil India Ltd. ONGC, Indian Oil and limited companies like Dalmia Bharat Ltd etc.

The forum saw 5+ thematic discussions covering major CSR interventions in thematic areas like agriculture and livelihoods, healthcare, skill development, education and sports, corporate focus on north east region etc. The forum saw participation from the likes of Dalmia Bharat, Cognizant, Vedanta Limited, SKF India Limited, SBI Foundation, Tata Trusts, CRISIL Foundation, British Council, National Foundation of India etc.
