IMPHAL, March 5 (Newmai): Manipur chief minister, N Biren Singhsaid that “each individual” should become a ‘model’ for bringing positive change in the State. “Let us make a better Manipur”, he added.
Biren Singh said this while during the inauguration of Girls and Boys Hostels at Khuman Lampak, Imphal on Monday.
As a part of the ‘Inauguration Fortnight’ to commemorate the first anniversary of the first BJP-led government in the State, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today inaugurated Girls and Boys Hostels of 150 capacity each at Khuman Lampak, Imphal and “Imphal Planetarium” at Manipur Science Centre, Takyelpat, Imphal West.
Speaking on the occasion as chief guest during the inauguration of Girls and Boys Hostels at Khuman Lampak, Imphal, the Chief Minster said that “each individual” should become a ‘model’ for bringing positive change in the State. The Chief Minister said that President of India Ramnath Kovind declared Manipur “Sports Capital of India”. Stressing that quality should be maintained in the National Sports University for producing good sportspersons in the State, the Chief Minister said that we need to study the performance of the sportspersons after the functioning of the University.
Biren Singh said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be visiting the State for the inauguration of the 105th Indian Science Congress to be held at Imphal on March 16. The Prime Minister would most likely to lay foundation stone for National Sports University in the State, he added. Around 4000 delegates would be participating in the Congress, he added. He mentioned that Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh would also be visiting the State to attend the first anniversary celebration which falls on 15th March, 2018. Union Home Minister would inaugurate the Integrated Check Post located at Moreh. The government has already identified about 116 projects/schemes to be inaugurated on the occasion of ‘Inauguration Fortnight’ in the State.
Expressing the grief over the death of the youth at Nagamapal recently, the Chief Minister said that the police has analysed the CCTV video footage about the killing and one suspicion of the murder has been identified. The Police department is making effort to arrest the suspicious person, he added. He stated that reportedly, a sweeper was crushed to death by a car in Singjamei area this early morning. Mentioning that such incident was occurred while performing her work, the Chief Minster assured that government would give extra financial help/ex-gratia to the family of the deceased.
