2022 to offer more avenues for tech minded youth

In the last 22 months, there has been a shortage of jobs in India. During the epidemic, sales of every business decreased, losses increased and activities came to a standstill. As a result the unemployment rate also increased. According to the monthly index of naukri.com, there was a decline of 15% in job placements in April 2021. Now when the economy has started getting back on track, things have started improving a bit. According to the Center for Monitoring Indian Economy, the unemployment rate declined to 9.2% in June, 2021, from 11.9% in May, 2021. According to Michael Page India, the beginning of the current year witnessed an improvement in the job market. The second wave of Covid brought the hiring activities to a temporary halt, but it seems to be improving for some time now. Especially in tech oriented professions. In such a situation, the youth who have done computer, software, information technology, web hosting, artificial intelligence and other such courses, there will be plenty of employment opportunities for them in the coming year.

Looking from the perspective of the year 2022, new age businesses present hope, especially technical jobs. Keeping pace with the changing times, many companies are increasing their technical capabilities. This shows that the way companies work is changing and the use of technology is increasing. In the coming times, the demand for youth with technical education and understanding will increase. Salary is increasing by 50% in technology related jobs. This is a great opportunity to be a techie in India, and Bangalore is its stronghold. Jobs have increased in IT, software, healthcare and manufacturing sectors. On the other hand, the employment situation in the travel, tourism and retail sectors is still not good.

According to a report by the Ministry of Statistics (Govt of India), there has been a decrease in organised sector jobs this year. If compared with the financial year 2019-20, there has been a decrease of 25 lakh jobs i.e. 22.6% percent in employment in the current financial year. In this report titled Employment Status 2021, it has been said that the people whose employment was affected the most during the Covid epidemic were below 35 years of age. Due to unforeseen circumstances, 22 lakh people had to lose their employment. Data from September 2017 to September 2021 have been included in the report. During the second wave of Covid, there was a shortage of jobs in the month of May this year, however the situation improved in July, 2021.

According to the Business Outlook Survey (BOS) report of British company IHS, the business optimism of the service and manufacturing sector in India between June and October 2021 ranged from 12% to 14%. Japan, Brazil and Russia were also enthusiastic about the manufacturing sector, but not as much as India. 14% of private sector companies in India have shown good prospects for the next year. This survey report also says that in 2022, service sector companies wish to increase their workforce. This is the only sector that has opened the most late after the Covid19 epidemic.
