DIPHU, March 2: Karbi Anglong team won their first Test match of the Senior Inter-district Naruddin Ahmed Cricket Champions Trophy after they defeated Lakhipur in their second day played at Maligaon NFR playground here. They have won the match by 435 runs on Friday.
On day one on February 28 Karbi Anglong scored a total of 356 runs at the loss of all wickets in 70.1 overs. Sarklimso Terang was the highest scorer scoring a century of 128 runs from 155 balls, while Jitu Timung scored 49 runs from 57 balls. The highest wicket taker from Lakhipur was Pankaj Pandey bagging 3 wickets. From his allotted 15 overs, he gave 62 runs to Karbi Anglong. While Anish Singha took 2 wickets. From 15 overs he gave 59 runs.
On the other hand Lakhipur scored 104 all out from 37 Overs. Anandeep Goala scored 27 runs from 25 balls. Mridul Rongpi gave 33 runs and took 4 wickets from his 12.5 overs. Sidhart Sarma and Gautom Chetri shared 2 wickets each. Karbi Angling were 232 runs ahead.
On day two on March 1, in the second innings Karbi Anglong scored another 262 runs at the fall of 7 wickets in 56 overs. Sarklimso Terang scored a century of 109 runs from 142 balls not out. Horumoni Saikia scored 36 runs from 39 balls. Kalyan and Arish of Lakhipur shared 2 wickets each. Karbi Anglong set a target of 495.
Lakhipur in their second innings scored a total of 63 runs at the fall of 8 wickets from 18 overs. Moidid Akthar scored 27 runs from 37 balls. Raju Ghosh and Sidhart Sarma of Karbi Anglong took 2 wickets each.
The match was won by Karbi Anglong by 435 runs. Sarklim Terang recorded a back to back century as he scored a century cross of 128 runs on day one and on day two also scored a century of 109 runs. He is the only players in Assam making a record of scoring back to back century.
