Assam forest department to go online

Guwahati, Sept 7: AMTRON managing director M K Yadava on Thursday said the  forest department will soon go online. He said at the 13th edition of The Telegraph’s Northeast Information Technology Conference (NICT), the region’s largest business, technology and leadership conference, along with the Government of Assam’s department of Information Technology.

Yadava spoke on the different IT initiatives of the state government like fast tracking the IT park in Guwahati and making gaon panchayats online. He described NICT as a flagship event of Guwahati and a premier IT event.

He said the government wants to extend gateway from Cox’s Bazaar to Agartala has been set up by BSNL with a 10 GBPS connection. We want to extend it till Guwahati with a 1-2 TB link. This is one of the requirements for digital connectivity and IT growth of the region”, said Yadava.

Earlier, while delivering the welcome speech, CEO and managing director of ABP Pvt Ltd and chairman of NICT D D Purkayastha defined the event as the leading business and technology convention of the region which was started 12 years back as a platform to showcase the region to the IT community and investors of the country.

President of the Federation of Industry and Commerce of North Eastern Region (FINER) Pabitra Buragohain spoke on the need for sustainable economic growth of IT firms in the region.

Prabir Kumar Das, director of Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) emphasised on the necessity of digital inclusiveness and setting up of BPOs in the region.

In the evening, The Telegraph Northeast Excellence Awards were given to 10 individuals in varied sectors across eight states of Northeast.
