NEW DELHI, Aug 14: A delegation of Akhil Asom Bhojpuri Yuva Chatra Parishad (AABYP) on Tuesday called on Union home minister Rajnath Singh at his resident in New Delhi.
The delegation apprised him about the non-inclusion of the names of bonafide citizens belonging to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar in the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam even as they submitted all documents to prove their Indian citizenship.
The Union minister gave a patient hearing and asked Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal to take immediate step in this regard. Singh also assured that no Indian citizen will be excluded from the NRC.
The delegation was led by its adviser Narendra Prakash Chouhan and president Rabindra Sahani.
It may be mentioned here that several lakhs of Bhojpuri people belonging to UP and Bihar have been excluded from the draft NRC, which was published on July 30, last.
