TEZPUR, Aug 18: Biswanth police on Saturday arrested another person from Diplonga tea garden area in connection with the lynching incident on August 15 in the tea garden under Sootea police station. With this, the number of arrests has risen to 12, police said.
On August 15, a mob lynched a group of four persons suspecting a cow thief at Diplonga Tea Garden at 15 number line under Sootea police station in Biswanath district on Wednesday early morning at around 4 am.
Biswanath district Superintendent of Police DK Choudhury told that police continued the search related to the incident.
He said that 11 persons were arrested till Friday and all were produced at Biswanath court and three persons were sent to police custody and others were sent to judicial custody on Saturday. Meanwhile on Saturday, another person namely Tulshi Patar have been arrested.
The other three – Phoolchand Sahu, Bijoy Nayak and Pujen Rajbongshi, who sustained injuries on their heads, legs and arms, are undergoing treatment.
