1,200 TET teachers will be regularised in KA: Tuliram

KHERONI, Sept 8: Altogether 1,200 TET teachers working in LP and UP schools of Karbi Anglong will be regularised within this fiscal phase-wise. This was disclosed by Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) CEM Tuliram Ronghang while interacting with a delegation of Karbi Anglong TET Teachers Association (KATTA) here on Friday.

Ronghang also informed that the state finance department has already approved the proposal of the council for regularisation of jobs of the TET teachers. In addition to this, the council will hold special TET for high schools and higher secondary schools under the council areas.

Notably, the regularisation process of TET teachers across the state has already started and the state elementary education department has already regularised more than 12,000 TET teachers working in LP and UP schools.

A 10-member delegation of KATTA called on CEM Ronghang here on Friday and submitted a memorandum demanding regularisation of their jobs as part with the state government’s policy. The delegation also demanded for improvement of infrastructure of LP and UP schools across Karbi Anglong. The association also urged the CEM for appointment of new teachers in the schools where single teachers are working.

The delegation comprised of KATTA president Umakanta Teron, general secretary Jitu Kalita, assistant general secretary Dhrubajyoti Baruah and other office bearers.

Notably, Assam government has started the process of regularisation of 38,000 Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) in government schools of the state. All these teachers have been working under Sarba Siksha Abhijan on contract basis. However, the regularisation of posts are yet to cover the Sixth Schedule autonomous council areas — Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao and the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).
