HOJAI, Aug 14: Assam Pradesh Manipuri Association (APMA) celebrated 127th Bir Tikendrajit Martyrs Day with day long programme on Monday at Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Bhawan at New Market in Hojai.
The programme began at 8:00 am at Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Bhawan campus with flag hoisting by advocate Y Nayan Singha, president of APMA, at 8:30 am Saheed-Tarpan was done infront of the statue of Bir Tikendrajit in New Market followed with a peace rally which was carried out in the town where around 300 people took part wearing traditional attire.
In the afternoon, an open session was organised where advocate Y Nayan Singha presided.
Manipur deputy chief minister Yumnam Joykumar Singh, IPS graced occasion as chief guest, Hojai deputy commissioner Manvendra Pratap Singh, IAS, educationaist Babatumbi Singh, social worker Krishna Kumar, senior Physicain Chanu Singh and many other eminent guests were present on this occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Manipur deputy chief minister Yumnam Joykumar Singh shared the contributions made by Bir Tikendrajit for the society.
All other distinguished guests spoke on this occasion and paid rich tribute to Bir Tikendrajit.
