HAFLONG, July 6: Two Afghan national identified as Nazar Mohammad Naize and Hashmat Paiwand were arrested from a house here on Friday.
The police found 24 Pan Cards, 43 bank ATMs, 37 voter ID, 71 pass books, 1 driving licence,1 Aadhaar Card, 1 pension payment order of client, 4 registers, 2 passports and 2 copies of certificates of UN High Commissioner for Refugees certifying that their refugee status is under consideration.
“We suspect them to be involved in money laundering cases. The passport of the duo expired. We examining them for further investigation,” said superintendent of police Sreejith T
A case No 61/19 was registered in Haflong police station under section 420 of IPC read with sections 14 (ab) Foreigners Act, 1946, section 3 (e) Registration of Foreigners Act, 1939, section 3 of The Passport (Entry into India) Act, 1920 and section 7 C (1) of The Assam Money Lender’s Act, 1968.
