DIPHU, Jan 9: Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) chief executive member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang said that there will be two day restricted holidays for the coming 44th Karbi Youth Festival (KYF) on February 18 and 19.
Attending as the chief guest at the Conference of Karbi Cultural Society (KCS) at Karbi People’s Hall Taralangso here on Tuesday, Ronghang said encroachers along Karbi Anglong-Meghalaya will be evicted at the earliest time possible. He said not an inch of land will be illegally occupied and there will also be eviction drive in Langkaijan at Karbi Anglong-Lumding.
Earlier founder president of KCS Lunse Timung inaugurated the conference. He said there is effort to preserve Karbi culture and tradition but due to the emergence of many religious sects it has become a problem as practice of Karbi culture is restricted among certain religious sects among the Karbi.
Delegates from various units of KCS attended the conference including from Sunitpur, Dumra and Nagaon.
Founder general secretary of KCS Roy Enghee, KAAC Chairman, Horensing Bey, Deputy Chairman Ritesh Enghi, EM Rupsing Teron, MACs Mongol Sing Timung, Longki Timung, Lunsing Teron, Ramsing Timung, Richard Tokbi, KCS general secretary Bidya Sing Rongpi, KCS president Chandra Sing Kro and others were present at the conference.
The KYF will commence on February 15 and conclude on February 19.
