AIZAWL, April 30 (Newmai): Mizoram’s apex student body, the Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP) on Monday apprehended 28 non-tribal people for allegedly violating the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873, (Inner Line Permit) during a raid at Zawlnuam village on the Mizoram-Tripura border.

Sources from MZP said that at least 84 people were rounded up in the raid conducted in collaboration with Zawlnuam police.

18 people were apprehended for living in Mizoram without Inner Line Permit (ILP), while 10 others were caught due to possession of invalid or dead ILP, the sources said.

The apprehended people were handed over the police.

MZP general secretary Lalnunmawia Pautu said that about 250 non-tribal people were apprehended for violation of the Inner Line Permit system last year. The violators were handed over to “the law enforcement agency” for necessary action, he added.
