TEZPUR, April 7: In view of the detection of Covid-19 positive patients at Gormora in Sonitpur district, the administration has declared the area as a containment zone.
“The decision has been taken in the interest of maintenance of public hygiene and to prevent further spread of Covid 19 in the area,” DC Manvendra Prataap Singh said while asking the circle officer of Chariduar revenue circle to seal the area with immediate effect.
As per the order, any unauthorised entry and exit into the notified containment zones is barred till the area is declared safe as per the guidelines of MoFW, Government of India. Any movement of unauthorized individuals and vehicles within the periphery is prohibited. All statutory and other directions regarding maintenance of social distancing will be strictly enforced with immediate effect. There will also be buffered zones in the radius of five kms around the containment zones. The order further stated that any violation of this order will be liable to punishment under the provision of the ‘Assam Covid 19 regulation 2020’, ‘The Disaster Management Act 2005’, ‘The Epidemic Disease Act 1897’ and other relevant laws of the nation. Notably, with this there are now 3 active containment zones within Sonitpur district alone.
