HAFLONG, March 13: Police have arrested three from New Harangajao area under Harangajao Police Station, 35 km from here on Tuesday night. Acting on specific information, a team of police led by deputy superintendent of police SK Morang and officer-in-charge of Harangajao PS conducted a raid in New Harangajao at 8 pm on Tuesday.
During the operation, police caught Ngambom Chongloi (24) who hails from Atibung in Nagaland’s Peren district, Mangneo Lhouvum (23) hailing from Motbung in Manipur’s Kangkopi district from a house where they were sheltered in.
The team also caught one Seimang Lhoujiem (34), a native of Harangajao who tried to flee from the house taking advantage of darkness. Police recovered one factory made pistol along with 3 7.65mm live ammunition from them.
Later, the trio was brought to Haflong police station for interrogation. Police said Ngambom Chongloi alias Bom and Henlienmang Lhouvum alias Mangneo were surrendered activists of S.K Thadou faction of United Tribal Liberation Army (UTLA) and came to Dima Hasao targeting an UTLA activist of separate faction.
The trio was produced before the court of the chief judicial magistrate of Haflong on Wednesday and remanded to five-day police custody for more investigation.
