DIPHU, Sept 16:As many as 300 Congress leaders and workers from West Karbi Anglong Monday joined Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma- led National People’s Party (NPP) in Guwahati, Assam unit NPP general secretary Lienkhochon Sitlhou said.
The prominent leaders who joined the NPP were West Karbi Anglong District Congress Committee secretary Jitu Ronghang, Duar-Amla MAC Constituency Congress Committee president Chandrasing Teron and Hamren MAC Constituency Committee president Mohan Tokbi.
More than 300 party workers from other parties joined NPP. The meeting was chaired by Assam unit NPP president Dilip Kumar Baruah. Sitlhou said many more leaders of congress are likely to join the NPP in the coming days.
