32 Assam Police personnel conferred President’s Medal

GUWAHATI, Aug 14: Altogether 32 Assam Police personnel have been conferred the President’s Medal for gallantry, meritorious service and distinguished service on the occasion of 72nd Independence Day.

Two policemen have been conferred the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service, 27 policemen conferred President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service and three have been selected for President’s Police Medal for Gallantry.

Rana Bhuyan, deputy inspector general (training.), Dergaon and Hardon Sah, constable (AB)-17, Tinsukia DEF, have been selected for President’s Police Medal Distinguished Service.

Tabu Ram Pegu (additional superintendent of police), Ramen Kalita (constable) and Hemanta Rajbongshi (constable) have been selected for President’s Police Medal for Gallantry.

The police personnel who have been selected for the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service are: Parthasarathi Mahanta (SP Kamrup), Chittaranjan Ojha (commandant, APTS), Simanta Talukdar (commandant, APTS), Sudhakar Singh (SP, Lakhimpur), Mugdhajyoti Mahanta (SP, Tinsukia), Bir Bikram Gogoi (commandant, 23rd APIR Battalion), Pabindra Kumar Nath (SP, CID,), Longnit Terang (SP, Dhubri), Krishna Kanta Dutta (inspector of police, UB, Police Commissionerate, Guwahati), Yusuf Hussain (assistant sub-inspector, PR Station, Tezpur), Rantul Kumar Deka (assistant sub-inspector, UB, Police Commissionerate, Guwahati), Meloram Basumatary, (assistant sub-inspector UB, Kokrajhar DRF), Padmajyoti Gogoi (assistant sub-inspector clerk, 23rd APIR Battalion, Karbi Anglong), Milan Mech (havilder, Sonitpur), Rebati Mohan Nath (havilder, Police Reserve, Goalpara), Rudreswar Pegu (havilder, Sonitpur), Ram Mohan Kemprai (havilder, 1st AP Battalion, Nazira), Rishi Singha (havilder, CDO Battalion, Mandakata. North Guwahati), Rintu Neog (havilder, PSO UB, SB, Kahilipara, Guwahati), Abdul Jalil (constable UB, Kokrajhar), Rajendra Kumar Singh (constable, UB, Sonitpur), Gagan Chandra Nath (AB constable, Goalpara), Kalyan Chetry (UB constable, Borguri, Tinsukia), Chandra Bhan Prasad (AB constable, Sonitpur), Damodar Boro (AB constable, Police Commissionerate, Guwahati), Khagen Kalita (UB constable, Police Commissionerate, Guwahati) and Abhijit Borgohain (constable UB, Sonitpur).

On the other hand, the President will also honour fire service personnel, home guards and civil defence personnel on the auspicious occasion.

Ghanashyam Choudhury (senior station officer) will receive President’s fire service medal for distinguished service; Dharma Kanta Gogoi (sub-officer) and Rajat Chandra Patgiri (leading fireman) will receive fire service medal for meritorious service; Amal Bhattacharyya (subedar, HG), Mohan Chandra Mahatta (platoon commander, HG) and Jitendra Muchahary (constable, HG) will receive home guard and civil defence medal for meritorious service.
