DIPHU, Sept 1: The 4th biennial conference of Amri-Chinthong Regional Committee of All Assam Gorkha Students Union (AAGSU), the silver jubilee celebration of Nepali Bhasa Maniyata Diwash and the 73rd Balidan Diwash (death anniversary) of Said Major Durga Malla were held with a two-day-long programme at Masuldyang playground, Chinthong in West Karbi Anglong on August 30-31.
On August 30, a delegate session of the 4th biennial conference of AAGSU’s Amri-Chinthong Regional Committee was held, where delegates from Amri and Chinthong took part.
The open session was presided over by Amri-Chinthong AAGSU president Kapil Bhattarai. General secretary Roshan Bantawa presented the two years report of the activities of the student body.
In the meeting, a new body of 37 members was constituted for Amri-Chinthong AAGSU headed by Rajib Ghimire as president and Kisan Chetri as general secretary.
On August 31, the silver jubilee celebration of Nepali Bhasa Maniyata Diwash and the 73rd Balidan Diwash began with hoisting of the organisations flag and homage paid to martyr Said Major Durga Malla .
An open session began with lighting the lamp by Karbi Anglong AAGSU president Suraj Chetri. During the open session, meritorious Nepali students passed in HSLC, HS and those graduates from Amri and Chinthong were felicitated by AAGSU. In the celebration important leaders of Gorkhas were present.
A statement of Amri-Chinthong AAGSU said the Gorkha Bhasha Maniyata Diwas and Balidan Diwas was supposed to be held earlier on August 20, but due to some reasons was taken back.
