GUWAHATI, Sept 18: Troops of Guwahati Frontier of Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended five cattle smugglers from bordering areas of South Salmara district of Assam on Sunday.

On specific intelligence information about stocking of cattle, the troops of BOP Hathichar under BSF Sector HQ Dhubri launched a pre-emptive operation in the wee hours of Sunday in Diwaner Alga Part 1 and apprehended five cattle traders along with cattle, which were stocked for smuggling. The apprehended cattle couriers have been identified as Ashidur Rahman (21), son of Sahar Ali, resident of Kadamtali, Sahirdul Islam (20) son of Abdul Samad, resident of Kadamtali, Lal Chand Mola (33), son of Manif Mola, resident of Hathichar, Iman Ali (21), son of Mafizuddin, resident of Diwaner Alga Part-I and Abdul Baser Mia (28), son of Jasmuddin, resident of Diwaner Alga Part-I

In addition to this, the troops seized 207 cattle heads worth Rs. 10.50 lakh, 87 btls of phensidyl and eight kgs of ganja on Sunday.
