HAMREN, Oct 5: The process of Aadhaar enrolment will begin in West Karbi Anglong district from October 6, West Karbi Anglong deputy commissioner Devajyoti Hazarika said here on Friday.
A total of 25 centres have been set up in the district for implementation of Aadhaar in the hill district, the DC said addressing a press conference here on Friday.
Nine centres have been set up in Rongkhang Development Block, five centres in Socheng, five centres in Amri and six centres have been set up in Chingthong Development Block, he said.
The working hours for Aadhaar enrolment is from 9.30 am to 5 pm.
Official sources here said the number of enrollment centres will be increased as per recommendation of the state government.
Additional deputy commissioner Anil Chandra Das, extra assistant commissioner MS Ahmed, deputy superintendent of police David R Neingaite were also present in the press conference.
The deputy commissioner appealed to the public not to panic or make a rush to the Aadhaar centres for enrolment as ‘there is no time limit or deadline for completing the process’. “It’s a continuous process and there will be sufficient time for each citizen to enrol for Aadhaar,” he quipped.
