NAMRUP, Aug 13:Road connecting the industrial place Namrup to Tinkhong, a total of 24 kms has been lying in a dilapidated condition for quite a long time now. Frustrated that no measures are being taken by the administration, citizens along with Namrup unit of AASU staged protest demanding immediate repair of the road.
The locals said, “Our children use the road to go to Namrup college for their education but now due to its poor condition no buses or mini vans are plying through the road, not only that but even medical transportation refuse to ply through the road owing to which we are facing tremendous difficulties. To add to all this the road has also become a den of many accidents.”
During protest AASU district assistant general secretary Abani Kumar Gogoi said, “We demand our government and specially our PWD Minister to take measures regarding the road conditions in the region immediately. They come here during the time of election and give big lectures on development but once the election is over they forget about their promises.”
