IMPHAL, Sept 25 (Newmai): The agitating Manipur University Student Union (MUSU), Manipur University Teacher Association (MUTA) and Manipur University Staff Association (MUSA) have resolved not to co-operate with the inquiry committee constituted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development to investigate into the allegations hurled at Prof AP Pandey for “administrative and financial irregularities”.
According to the MUSU, MUTA and MUSA, they had a long discussion on Tuesday, and that, at the end of the meeting they resolved not to co-operate with the inquiry committee.
The reasons for this resolution of MUSU, MUTA and MUSA has been that, “as transparency, truth and capability of the inquiry committee to be independent have been compromised”, they said they will immediately withdraw their acceptance of the inquiry committee and stop co-operating with it.
The three organisations also resolved to demand that a commission of inquiry under the Commission of Inquiry Act 1952 should immediately be instituted in place of the two-men Inquiry Committee.
MUSU, MUTA and MUSA further resolved that the students and teachers, who have been taken into custody by the state security forces, should be released immediately without any pre-condition.
