DIPHU, April 9:AGP will come out from the alliance with the BJP if the saffron party is really going to implement the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, AGP leader Daniel Timung said here on Tuesday.

Reacting to the poll manifesto, in which the BJP promised to bring back the Citizenship Bill if it is voted to power, Timung said BJP election manifesto is nothing but a political gimmick to win the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

“If the BJP is really going to implement the CAB then the AGP will be the first party to oppose and pull back its support to BJP,” he said.

Diphu District AGP president Samsing Kro appreciated Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) chief executive member (CEM) Tuliram Ronghang for development work he has taken up in the hill district. He said the AGP is clear this time to support BJP and urged people to vote for BJP candidate Horensing Bey in the upcoming elections.

Meanwhile, Simeon Rongphar faction of Karbi Students Association (KSA) expressed apprehension about the poll manifesto of BJP in which the saffron party promised to bring back the Citizenship Bill.

In a press release here Tuesday, KSA said that CAB will lead to demographic changes as indigenous tribes will be displaced. CAB was rejected before realising the danger, it said.
