MANGALDAI, Nov 20: “The BJP led government is highly concerned for the development and welfare of the poor and marginal farmers who are the backbone of our country and both the Union and the State government have been ensuring all assistances to the farmers including tractors, power tillers, bio fertilizers, seeds, irrigation facilities etc in a subsidized rate not only to increase the productivity, but also double the farmers’ income. But it is very unfortunate that a section of beneficiaries have reportedly been using the tractors in non-agriculture activities like commercial carrying of earth, sand, boulders that too in violation of the forest rules.”
This was stated by Mangaldai legislator Guru Jyoti Das while taking part in the ceremonial distribution function of govt subsidized power tillers, paddy thresher machines and free Rabi crop seeds among the farmers under different government schemes including RKVY, BGREI and disaster management.
The event was organized by the district agriculture office on Friday. He also appealed to the youth of the district to come forward to get involved in the agriculture activities availing the facilities and all the assistance offered by the Agriculture department.
Earlier, district agriculture officer Dr Uddhab Deka in his welcome speech, explained in details on the schemes adopted by the Agriculture department for the farmers of the district and also gave an account of achievements made by the rural farmers of the district. In the function, legislator Guru Das also distributed 25 numbers of power tillers, 11 numbers of paddy thrashers and seeds of maize.
