SHILLONG, Sept 25: As a part of Air Force Day celebrations, the “Headquarters Eastern Air Command” at Upper Shillong is planning an Air Force Festival called ‘AIR FEST 2017’ from September 30 to October 2. The festival is being conducted at the Shillong Advance Landing Ground (ALG) and is open to all Indian citizens between 1000-1600 hours on all the three days. It will showcase the ‘Spirit of Adventure’ which epitomizes Indian Air Force.
The festival commences with a fly past of Su-30 MKI aircraft and Mi-17 Russian built helicopters. This will be followed by the breathtaking display of the Indian Air Force ‘Air Devils’ team which has carried out sky diving and free fall para jumps all over the world. Various activities like fly past by Mi-17, MiG-27 are planned. During the entire period, the IAF band shall enthrall the visitors. In addition, there will be demonstration on Slithering Operations by ‘Garud’, the elite commandos of the Indian Air Force and an exciting display of drill movements by the Air Warrior Drill Team.
The Air Fest is an endeavour to showcase the people of India with the history, glory, spirit of adventure and challenging opportunities of the IAF. Towards this, all citizens with family and friends in town are encouraged to participate in the Air Fest.
