GUWAHATI, Aug 22: The Ministry of Jal Shakti, Govt of India in association with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and DG NCC launched “Swachh Bharat Summer Internship 2019 – 50 hours of Swachhta” pan India. The aim of the project was to engage youth across the country to develop their skills and orientation for Solid Waste Management (SWM), and sustain the momentum of the Swachh Bharat Jan andolan.
NCC Cadets of 1 Mizoram Bn NCC, Aizawl enthusiastically participated in the project. A total of 5 Colleges and 6 Schools part of the Bn (Companies and Troops) in Aizawl district participated in the Internship in Aizawl district of Mizoram.
A meeting chaired by Vanlalngaihsaka, deputy commissioner & chairman district Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) Aizawl district was also held on Aug 13 for vetting the participation reports for SBSI 2.0 and select awardees for District level and the nominee for State Level award. 1 Mizoram Bn NCC, Aizawl under Col KS Dhindsa, secured First position at the District Level and was selected as a nominee of the District for State Level Award.
On the occasion, Maj Gen Bipin Bakshi, VSM, ADG NCC Directorate NER lauded the efforts of the NCC Cadets of 1 Mizoram Bn NCC during the project. The ADG stated that, “This visionary initiative has helped the NCC Cadets to hone and develop their individual skills and orientation for sanitation, cleanliness related work and become an integral part of the Swachh Bharat Janadolan.”
