BARPETA, April 20:Perfume baron and All India Democratic United Front (AIUDF) chief, Maulana Badruddin Ajmal launched a scathing attack on the leaders of the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP).
Ajmal on Saturday, addressed an election rally at Barpeta to campaign for party’s candidate for Barpeta Lok Sabha seat, Hafiz Rafiqul Islam.
“This time, the fight is for our (minority population) existence. If the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes to power, Modi will send you all to Bangladesh. So, we need to remove Modi and his party from power,” Ajmal said.
Dhubri sitting MP Ajmal further trained guns at Bhrigu Phukan, Prafulla Kumar Mahanta and Atul Bora. “Would you vote for AGP who is behind the infamous Nellie massacre? AGP leaders like Phukan, Mahanta, Atul along with Kumar Deepak Das were the mastermind behind the killing of our children like animals; pre-mature babies were taken out of their mothers’ womb and were slaughtered,” said Ajmal addressing a rally in Barpeta.
The Nellie massacre took place in central Assam during a six-hour period in the morning of February 18th, 1983. The massacre claimed the lives of 2,191 people (unofficial figures run at more than 10,000) from 14 villages—Alisingha, Khulapathar, Basundhari, Bugduba Beel, Bugduba Habi, Borjola, Butuni, Dongabori,Indurmari, Mati Parbat, Muladhari, Mati Parbat no. 8, Silbheta, Borburi and Nellie – of Nagaon district.
Barpeta will go to polls in the third phase of Lok Sabha Polls 2019 to be held on April 23. Deepak Das (AGP) and Abdul Khaleque (Congress) will contest for this seat which is presently in the fist of AIUDF with sitting MP Sirajuddin Ajmal (AIUDF).
Referring to Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s viral dance, Ajmal said, “I have booked a well-equipped room and made all arrangements at the Tezpur Mental Hospital for his treatment. People with beard and skull caps are eyesore for Himanta. He hates Muslims.”
