Another rape incident triggers violence in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, Feb 21: Two days after two rape accused were lynched by an irate mob in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tezu town, another rape incident triggered off violence in the Land of Rising Sun on Wednesday.

Angry mob dragged a rape accused naked to street and also vandalized police station at Yingkiong in Upper Siang district on February 20.

According to the reports, the accused, a teacher by profession, allegedly raped a 6-year old girl on February 17 at Saint Thomas private school at Yingkiong.

On February 19, the minor girl had reported to her mother of stomach pain and also described about sexual assault by her teacher.

The mother of the victim had immediately informed police and also informed some relatives.

While the information of the incident went viral, some people had dragged the accused person naked to street and handed over to police.

Meanwhile, the rape accused was shifted from Yingkiong to Aalo in West Siang district on February 19 night and next day angry mob had vandalized the Yingkiong police station.

The mob had damaged properties of the police station and also a vehicle.

On Wednesday, a public rally was organised at Yingkiong town in protest against transfer of the rape accused from Yingkiong and demanded that accused must be brought back to Yingkiong.

It is to be mentioned that, two rape accused were dragged out by an angry mob from the police station at Tezu and beaten to death on February 19 at Tezu town alleged that the person duo had raped and murder a minor girl.
