Apollo Hospitals launches first of its kind spine clinic in Guwahati

Guwahati, Aug 5: The Department of Neurosurgery, Apollo Hospitals, Guwahati has launched a spine clinic specializing in the diagnosis and management of spine problems. This clinic is launched in Apollo Hospitals’ continuum of its pledge for upgrading and updating the medical services in North East with the latest in the world. The Spine Clinic has been started under a team of expert neurosurgeons who have extensive clinical experience.

The Apollo Spine Clinic brings together a well-trained and experienced team of multidisciplinary specialists under one roof. Staffed by expert care givers and supported by capable personnel and the most advanced facilities this clinic ensures the best clinical outcomes for patients.

Some of the advanced infrastructure and facilities include an independent state of the art neurosurgery OT equipped with all the modern technologies like neuro spinal endoscope & neuro navigation system, dedicated 8 bedded Neuro ICU, Neuro Radiology Team & Cath Lab facilities and 24×7 emergency & trauma services.  Moreover this clinic will also provide rehabilitation services for therapy, treatment and will offer advice and support to the family of patients.

Spinal problems in the population are gradually increasing and this clinic will deal with all kinds of spinal injury, spinal cord trauma and degenerative spinal disease like slip disc etc.

The clinic was launched by Dr. Ashish Malakar, CEO, Apollo Hospitals, Guwahati and Dr. Shameem Ahmed, Senior Consultant, Department of Neurosurgery, Apollo Hospitals, Guwahati. Also present were Dr. VP Singh, Senior Consultant, Department of Neurosurgery, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, Delhi and Dr. Abrar Ahmed, Senior Consultant, Department of Neurosurgery, Apollo Gleneagles Hospitals, Kolkata.

To commemorate the occasion an interactive CME was organized and over 150 eminent neurologists, neurosurgeons, orthopaedic surgeons and general medical professionals from across the region participated in the CME. Dr. VP Singh delivered a talk on Spinal Cord Tumour and Dr. Abrar Ahmed explained about the corrective measures taken for spinal bone deformities.

A book titled ‘Renal Knowledge’ authored by Dr. Mitul Bora and Dr. Rakesh Periwal was also launched.
