Army organises medical camp for destitute school children at Diphu

DIPHU, Sept 30: Continuing with the endeavour to provide humanitarian assistance to the less privileged populace of East Karbi Anglong, the troops of renowned ‘Red Horns Division’ organised a medical camp on the occasion of ‘World Heart Day’ at ‘Home for Destitute and Children School and Hostel’ (Department of Social Welfare), Taralangso, Diphu on Sunday.
Around 65 children including 20 children in the age group 4-8 years, 28 in 8-14 years category and 17 in above 14 years category attended the medical camp.
Free medical check-up and consultations were provided by the Army and Civil Doctors besides providing the children with relevant free medicines. The medical team led by the Army medical officer and a Pediatrician specialist from MPHC along with Army Nursing Assistants and pharmacists set up the medical camp early in the morning, so that children can get as much information about their health and related issues as possible.
The beneficiaries were screened for diseases like Malnutrition, Scurvy, Rickets, Dental carries, Anaemia and screened for Malaria. A short lecture to the school children by Army Doctor regarding safe drinking water, practices for maintaining self hygiene, preventive measure for communicable diseases like Dengue, Malaria etc was also organised.
The children and staff of the school expressed their gratitude to the Armed Forces for organising the camp and requested for similar undertakings in the future as well. The tireless efforts of the troops of the Army were equally lauded by the civil populace and local administration.
