SILCHAR, April 17: Preparations are full with tight security arrangements at the Booth No. 109 of Madhya Dhanehari LP School No. 463 in Sonai Assembly constituency, which will go for re-poll on April 20. This was informed by Cachar deputy commissioner Keerthi Jalli on Saturday, after visiting the centre. The DC, along with SP BL Meena visited the polling station to oversee the poll preparedness and were accompanied by Sonai circle officer Sudeep Nath, additional superintendent of police Jagdish Das, zonal and sector officers. The deputy commissioner asked all the voters under the polling station to come out in full strength and exercise their franchise without any fear and apprehension. Notably, the Election Commission of India on April 10 last declared the vote casted at the polling station as void and ordered for fresh polls at the station.

Later, while speaking to media persons, the Cachar DC said, “The administration is working hard for the smooth conduct of the re-poll and the police have been asked to provide tightest security to prevent any further untoward incident on polling day. A meeting with all candidates has also been organised. Area domination has been taken up since the last ten days by police. Circle officers and O/C are also interacting with the public appealing for fearless voting.”

Cachar superintendent of police BL Meena said that all preparations are being made to complete the re-poll smoothly and adequate police and CRPF forces will be deployed on the polling day. The senior police official further shared that a company of CRPF force has been conducting a road march, since a week, in the entire polling station area and on the poll day no one except the voter will be allowed to enter the 500m radius of the polling station.
