GUWAHATI, Nov 6: Arvind Singh, an IAS officer of 1988 batch, took over as chairman of Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Wednesday. On his first day, Singh interacted with AAI board members and senior officials at AAI`s Corporate Headquarters, Rajiv Gandhi Bhawan in the national capital.
Prior to this appointment, Singh was additional chief secretary (energy) in Maharashtra government. He also worked as chairman cum managing director of Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Ltd. and the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Ltd. (MSETCL).
Singh joined the IAS service in 1988 as Maharashtra cadre officer after acquiring Bachelor`s and Master`s Degrees in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and from the Delhi School of Economics.
In his new assignment as the AAI chairman, Singh said he will lead efforts to achieve AAI’s organisational goals of providing world-class airport infrastructure, top-of-the-line facilities and leading air navigation services in the world.
