GUWAHATI, Jan 20: Assam Cultural Trust would organise public felicitation programme every year in a bid to encourage the playwrights and artists of mobile theatre groups of the state. This was decided in the first governing body meeting of ACT under the chairmanship of Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal at Brahmaputra State Guest in Guwahati on Saturday.
The ACT also decided to convene annual special events to showcase the rich and vibrant culture of the Barak valley and hill districts of the state.
Presiding over the proceedings of the meeting, Sonowal suggested the trust to take special measures for improving the infrastructure of ITA Pragjyoti Centre for Performing Arts, Machkhonwa.
He further suggested the Trust to take steps for showcasing the cultural, religious, linguistic versatility and traditional life of seventy tribes of the state in the centre so that tourists could observe the rich cultural diversity.
Sonowal asked the trust to initiate measures for setting up state of the art auditoriums in various towns of the state.
Minister of state for cultural affairs, Naba Kumar Doley, CM’s media adviser Hrishikesh Goswami, commissioner & secretary (cultural affairs) Pritom Saikia, Kamrup (Metro) deputy commissioner M Angamuthu, cultural affairs director Deba Prasad Mishra and other members of the trust were present in the meeting.
