GUWAHATI, July 12: After Manoj Tiwari and Ravi Kishan, Kalpana Patowary, Assamese Bhojpuri artist, joined the BJP on Thursday.
Kalpana formally joined the saffron party in a function held at Bapu Sabhagarh in Patna in the presence of BJP national president Amit Shah and Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Modi.
Kalpana, who hails from Assam, was felicitated by senior leaders of the party with a saffron stoll.
BJP in-charge for Bihar Bhupendra Yadav, minister Ravishankar Prasad,Union minister of state for health and family welfare Ashwini Choubey, Pradesh BJP chief Nityanand Rai and all Union ministers hailing from the state were present at the meetings.
“I am impressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and leadership. I have not joined BJP for contesting elections as of now. But I am ready to help out the party in every possible way serving through my art,” Kalapana said in her speech.
“Even if I joined politics, my field of work will be same as of now-that is my music and more importantly archiving our folk musical heritage. I’ll use politics as a tool, as a medium and power to serve more and reach out. BJP for me is an ideology,” she also said.
