GUWAHATI, Aug 21: Axl Hazarika Rainbow Trip, an Indian experimental band founded by Axl Hazarika, who has been leading India on SoundCloud’s Global Trance Top 10 charts, pays heartfelt tribute to Chester Bennington with a special cover of Linkin Park’s debut single ‘One Step Closer’. Chester Bennington, the former frontman of Linkin Park who passed away last month, is considered as one of the all time great metal vocalists. The cover video beautifully features some of the best live moments from Linkin Park’s world tours.
“Linkin Park has been an inspiration for me throughout because of their unique style and amalgamation of industrial, nu metal and popular rock. I started making nu metal and industrial music back in school days when Linkin Park was almost everywhere. This is the first time that I have released a cover video and it’s a very special dedication to the one who truly inspired and touched a billion hearts including mine. We continue to remember Chester in our hearts and hope all the Linkin Park fans out there like it.”, says Axl Hazarika.
Axl Hazarika Rainbow Trip is an experimental music band from northeast India. The band consists of Axl Hazarika and Amrita Sonowal. Axl recently became the first and only Indian artist to rank in SoundCloud Top 10 Global Trance music chart. They are credited with the making of the first Assamese experimental/avant-garde electronic music video, also referred to as folk-EDM, titled ‘Goru Bihu Song’ ( http://bit.ly/2x3AY8j), in May 2016. The video has amassed a massive million views on YouTube and much publicity in popular media. Axl Hazarika is a super-versatile composer who loves experimenting with industrial and avant-garde stuff. His creations do not represent a single style in totality; he rather makes rock, metal, EDM, industrial, trance, whatever moods and moments suggest.
After graduating from IIT Guwahati, Amrita is presently pursuing post-graduation in management from IIM Ahmedabad while Axl Hazarika is currently involved in a lead role in developing northeast India’s largest government-run digital archive – Jyoti Chitraban Digital Archive that aims to store and preserve for posterity archival materials of all kinds including music, videos, films, documentaries, texts, and photographs. Axl and Amrita are also working on a digital startup founded under the Centre for Innovation, Incubation, and Entrepreneurship (CIIE), IIM Ahmedabad, India’s top business school. They are also the first from Assam to get selected under the prestigious IIMAverick Program at CIIE, IIM Ahmedabad.
Amrita Sonowal said, “Axl & I being in different cities, I hadn’t imagined that this would be possible anytime soon. Finding time amidst the hectic academic schedule at IIMA was another challenge. But when it comes to making music and a tribute to your childhood legend Chester Bennington who never ceased to inspire us, it instantly becomes a passionate affair that you manage to pull through. We love Linkin Park and I hope everyone likes our humble attempt.”
