TEZPUR, Feb 22: Sonitpur deputy commissioner Manvendra Pratap Singh on Monday laid the foundation stone for a permanent building Sakhi: One-Stop Centre of Sonitpur district at Mazgaon, Tezpur. Additional deputy commissioner Liza Talukdar, DSP HQ Dr Rashmi Rekha Sarma, assistant commissioner and i/c DSWO Shilpi Sikha Thakuria, CDPO Tezpur Urban Ruby Kalita, centre administrator, One Stop Centre, Jyotismita Baruah and representatives from District Legal Services Authority were present on the occasion.
Notably, the one-stop centre provides integrated services of medical and legal aid, guidance on the procedure of registering police complaints, along with psycho-social counselling and temporary shelter to women who have been victims of sexual or physical violence.
Addressing the gathering DC Manvendra Pratap Singh said that the one-stop centre will go a long way in providing support services for survivors of rape, domestic violence, acid attack victims, trafficking victims all under one roof. He further informed that the RCC building for the centre is being built at a cost of Rs 4869372 lakhs. The centre is being implemented by the ministry of woman and child development and state social welfare department of the to provide integrated support and assistance under one roof for women affected by sexual and physical violence.
