SHILLONG, Aug 18 (Newmai): GVK EMRI in association with the NEIGRIHMS conducted the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support workshop for 97 undergraduate medical students who had gathered from all parts of the country as a part of the 1st Undergraduate Conference held at NEIGRIHMS which concluded here on Saturday.
The main objective of the workshop was to build capacities for emergency care in hospital and also to ensure that the medical students acquire the necessary skills of CPR needed to treat an adult, child and infant victim of cardiac arrest.
They were also taught to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) on a victim of cardiac arrest and to recognize and treat a victim of choking. All 97 candidates successfully complete the workshop held in two batches held on August 16 and 17, 2018. Certificates were given at the end of the program from AHA.
