KOKRAJHAR, Oct 19: The chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has clarified that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has its alliance intact with only the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) party and not with any other parties like the BPF in Bodoland Territorial Region districts.
On Tuesday, Sarma while addressing a poll rally at Gossaigaon town in support of the NDA alliance, backed UPPL candidate for No.28 Gossaigaon LAC, Jiron Basumatary and said that BJP led NDA alliance candidates including UPPL will be having the last laugh from all the contesting constituencies across the state in the scheduled October 30 by-elections in the state.
He has made it clear that the BJP party has an alliance only with the UPPL party and no such understanding with the BPF.
He said that the NDA government in the state was working dedicatedly towards the welfare and development of the state since it was voted to power.
He said that the BJP led NDA alliance parties are committed to work for the welfare and integration of the common masses in the region for bringing all round development and integration among the society.
He said that the BTR districts are now getting a more developmental environment as peace and harmony in the society is prevailing as the BTR administration and the state government are jointly stepping up for people’s development.
“Today, the common masses want a healthy environment that promises them development and accordingly with that aim in mind, they are coming forward to extend support to the UPPL candidate”, Sarma said.
CM Sarma said that 11 lakh microfinance holders would be given cheques within November next across the state, as the BJP party had promised during the assembly elections.
He said that all development and welfare related issues and grievances of citizens under Gossaigaon LAC would be solved with immediate steps in days to come.
He criticised the Opposition parties including the Congress party, and said that the Congress would not come to power as the Congress party has no human welfare strategy to woo the voters.
He has urged the common masses to vote in favour of the NDA alliance backed UPPL candidate at Gossaigaon and Tamulpur LACs respectively.
Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) chief executive member (CEM) and UPPL president Pramod Boro has expressed his confidence over the NDA backed UPPL candidates Jiron Basumatary (Gossaigaon) and Jolen Daimary (Tamulpur) and BJP party candidates winning in the contesting constituencies with massive supports of voters.
He expressed his happiness over the response from the people as an overwhelming crowd attended the election rally despite heavy rain.
He informed that CM Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has been camping in Gossaigaon since Monday evening and was at Mornai tea estate at night. Sarma apparently is the first chief minister who has spent his night at a remote tea estate at Srirampur interstate border check gate with West Bengal in Kokrajhar district.
He has appealed to all citizens of Gossaigaon LAC to vote in favour of UPPL candidate Jiron Basumatary in the by-polls.
Sarma also met with various student union bodies, social organisations representing different communities in the district during his stay at Mornai Tea Estate late at night.
Assam cabinet ministers Ashok Singhal, Urkhao Gwra Brahma, MLA Lawrence Islary and senior leaders from BJP, UPPL were also present in the election rally.
