DIPHU, May 3: East Karbi Anglong BJP president Dhansing Teron on Monday expressed gratitude to the people of the hill district for giving mandate to four candidates in the assembly polls, the results of which were announced on Sunday.
In Diphu BJP candidate Bidyasing Engleng has defeated his nearest rival Congress candidate Sum Ronghang by a margin of 40,528 votes.
Engleng secured a 77,032 votes while Sum Ronghang managed to get 36,504 votes.
In Howraghat BJP candidate Dorsing Ronghang won with a comfortable margin of 31,683 votes against his nearest rival Congress candidate Sanjeeb Teron.
Ronghang has secured 57,927 votes while Teron managed to secure 26,244 votes.
In Bokajan, BJP candidate Dr. Numal Momin won with a margin of 17,885 votes against his nearest rival Congress candidate Ratan Engti. Momin received 60,726 votes while Ratan Engti secured 42,841 votes.
In Baithalangso, BJP candidate Rupsing Teron won by a huge margin of 53,437.
Teron secured 89,715 while his rival congress candidate Enghee managed to secure 36,278.
“I thank the people of Karbi Anglong for still having faith in BJP and making it victorious. People have again voted the BJP for a second term as they have witnessed the development works and welfare schemes done by the BJP government.”
Teron also expressed how the BJP government and leaders work tirelessly during the Covid-19 pandemic and are always with the people. In the coming days, people of Karbi Anglong will witness more development, Teron said.
“I congratulate Bidyasing Engleng for winning from Diphu, Dr. Numal Momin from Bokajan, Dorsing Ronghang from Howraghat and Rupsing Teorn from Baithalangso,” Teron said.
Meanwhile, newly-elect Bidyasing Engleng said it was the hard work of chief executive member (CEM) of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC), Tuliram Ronghang which enable him to win the Diphu seat.
“It was the hard work and support extended to me by CEM Tuliram Ronghang that I could win Diphu seat. I specially thank CEM Ronghang as under his able leadership the BJP could capture four seats,” Engleng said.
He said he will work towards the setting up of an engineering college in Karbi Anglong, to have a full-fledged university in Diphu and creating jobs to educated unemployed youth.
