NALBARI, Aug 24: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said, “In six-thousand-year-old civilization of India, Janmashtami has a special significance because on this day the great social creator and reformer Sri Krishna was born who showed the human civilisation the paths of truth and honesty. Therefore, the platinum jubilee celebrations, of the boat race competition organised by Hitsadhini Library in the culturally rich district Nalbari synchronising with Krishna Janmashtami held immense importance. This boat race will help to maintain our rich legacy and take it forward for the younger generation to practise, preserve and appreciate.”
Speaking on the platinum jubilee celebrations of the boat race, chief minister Sonowal said, “The civilization of Assam has grown along the Brahmaputra and its 121 tributaries and Barak and its 11 tributaries. Therefore, our traditions which emanated from our proximity with the rivers should be strengthened and sustained. The boat race organised at Ulabori in Nalbari will be a force multiplier to strengthen our bond of friendship and camaraderie and will be a catalyst to fortify our harmonious co-existence in the society”.
Stating that all competitions give directions towards positive approach of life, Sonowal said that the traditional boat race competition at Ulabori in the Pagladia river will give a dimension to the younger generation to go forward embracing truth, honesty, dedication and diligence as the tenets of their life. Emphasising that ‘Work Culture is the edifice of Krishna Culture’, the chief minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last five years has wiped out the ills of miss governance perpetrated by the Congress and brought before the public the doctrine of transparency and credibility while keeping public at the crux of all schemes of things. He, therefore, urged upon the people of Assam to cooperate unrelentingly to aid state government’s mission of making the state stronger. Sonowal also said that the Member of Parliament of Guwahati and MLA of Borbhag have unleashed a united effort to bring about paradigm shift in the development of Borbhag and asked everybody to complement and supplement government’s efforts in championing the cause of people’s welfare.
