SHILLONG, Aug 5: Meghalaya health minister Roshan Warjri on Saturday inaugurated the Jaiaw Umpohliew bridge and link road to Mawlai Phudmuri in the presence of local MDC Adelbert Nongrum, chief engineer, PWD-Roads (NH) MR Sangma, PWD officials, headman of Mawlai Phudmuri, S Kurbah and headman of Jaiaw Laitdom, SB Kharbangar. The inauguration ceremony was held at Pearly Dew School, Jaiaw, Shillong.
The bridge was sanctioned from the special plan assistance of union government at a cost of Rs 1.50 crore while the link road was sanctioned from the special plan fund at a cost of Rs 58.95 lakh.
Dedicating the project to the people, Warjri said that the long cherished dream of the people of Jaiaw Laitdom have been realised with the inauguration of the bridge and link road. While thanking the residents for their co-operation, she said their co-operation in the construction process has ensured its completion in a stipulated time. She hoped that this road will ease the traffic congestion in the city and serve its purpose for the benefit of the residents and urged upon the people to make sure that anti social elements do not make this facility a safe haven for unlawful activities.
