BSF Guwahati organises plantation drive

GUWAHATI, July 25: In response to the global imperative for saving the environment, troops of Border Security Force, Frontier HQ Guwahati and All India Coordinated Research Project on Agro-Forestry, Horticultural Research Station, Guwahati jointly organised a plantation drive at Frontier HQ Guwahati to maintain and preserve the local environment on Sunday.

Officers of Frontier HQ BSF Patgaon, Guwahati led the plantation drive by planting saplings in presence of a team of All India Coordinated Research Project on Agro-Forestry, Horticultural Research Station, Guwahati. Over 500 saplings of various fruit-bearing and other trees were planted under the supervision of Sanjay Singh Gehlot, inspector general BSF Guwahati Frontier.

The plantation drive was also conducted at all Sector Headquarters & Units under Command, in which all officers, subordinate officers, jawans, and families of BSF participated. A total of 12,500 saplings of various fruit-bearing and other trees were planted during the day. Notably, BSF Guwahati Frontier plans to plant 56,000 trees during this season and so far 31,452 saplings have already been planted.
