KOKRAJHAR, Sept 15: Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) chief executive member (CEM) Pramod Boro has called upon the officials of Public Health Engineering (PHE) department of Chirang district to expedite the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Chirang district.
Attending a review meeting along with principal secretary of BTC Shantanu P Gotmare held with the officials of PHE department and contractors involved with JJM in the conference hall of district center, Kajalgaon, BTC CEM Pramod Boro stressed on timely completion of all the incomplete works for providing tap water connection in every rural household of the district.
Addressing the meeting, he said, “December is the deadline for all contractors to complete all the ongoing JJM schemes of the second phase in Chirang district. But all contractors have to maintain quality without expecting more profit for the interest of Public.” He warned that any contractors found to be irresponsible and improper in the implementation of the same scheme, they would have to face dire consequences. “But those who have done the work properly and on time, they will be helped by the department by awarding them more schemes,” he added. Asking the contractors if they had any problems in timely completion of JJM schemes in the district, he advised them to bring such problems to the notice of the DC and the officials of the department immediately.
Reiterating the JJM, a flagship programme of the Union government and necessity of implementing it properly, the CEM Pramod Boro strictly instructed the PHE officials like engineers, sector officers and technical persons present in the meeting to make all out efforts by physically monitoring the progress of every scheme to accomplish the goal of the mission in a time-bound manner and to ensure the quality of all works.
During the meeting, Rajib Maiti, manager of M/s. Rangadao Constructions Pvt. Ltd, Chapaguri, was held by the police and work orders of three contractors were cancelled due to anomalies found against them while implementing JJM schemes.
The meeting was also attended by Sidli MLA Jayanta Basumatary, MCLA Madhab Chandra Chetri, in-charge deputy commissioner, Chirang, ADC Khanindra Das, ADC and in-charge sub-divisional officer, Bijni, Dibakar Nath and SDO (S) Wahidul Islam.
